Not For Sale

This is a visual statement of how I felt when I was without my camera and a darkroom.

The story behind the image can also be read in my post on A Photographer’s Tale blog.

In the original Artist Statement for this piece - created specifically for the 2019 CONTACT Photography Festival - and in the blog post, I mentioned how how this piece was created.

To the right and bottom of this screen, you will see each section that was later assembled into one image, in the process of transformation.

Is it the past and future syncing up, or is it the tearing away of the veil to get to the core of creation?

Merging Seemingly Opposites, 2018

This image was shot later in the southwest area of Toronto, during the fall, once I decided on the concept of the final piece.

The ordeal while getting this shot of the CN Tower can be further explored in the blog post titled, “Bagel Stuck On Repeat”.

After successfully getting the shot I wanted, the process of destruction and creation began.

This photograph was shot first, during the spring, in a northwest area of Toronto.

I wasn’t sure what to do with this image. I took the photograph while testing out my camera and film stock and found the subject of these light domes intriguing.

But after applying to the CONTACT Festival, and coming up with the idea for the exhibition piece, the photograph found its purpose.
